Nicole's top 3 favorite kitchen items this week: Must-Have Picks & Tips | Cook With Nicole Today I'm launching a new weekly series called Friday Favorites! I've been asked about what some of my go-to items in my house and kitchen for years and now I'm going to share them. As someone who had to start over many times in life, that meant having to start a home over many times. I've bought and replaced more kitchen items than I care to think about. But, with all of that experience, I've had some excellent hands on experience with what works, what's a waste, and what I love. Today we are starting with three items I want to share:

1. All week I've been posting about using my Breville Paradice 16 food processor to turn leftover garlic skins into garlic salt. When our kitchen aid food processor died earlier this year I shed a tear and mourned the passing of one of my favorite appliances that I had for years. My dad had given it to me just after college and I put it to heavy use throughout the years.

So, after careful research, we made our way to Williams-Sonoma to take a look at the current options. The Breville stood out for all of our needs. I wanted a large bowl with an option to do smaller blending as well. The numerous blade options including dough blade were important to me. The icing on the cake, was the option to have various dicing inserts. I wasn't sure I would use them, but since we brought the Paradice home, we put it to use for quick dicing for soups, sauteing, and more. We absolutely love it. It's easy to clean, easy to use, and a beast!!

As the holiday season draws nearer, I highly recommend you invest in one to make your holiday cooking easier. 2. This week we've been doing a lot of baking, both sweet and savory. Every time I grab a baking sheet, I'm also pulling out my Silpat. I got my first Silpat as a gift at Christmas, and have been in love ever since. These non-stick mats have extended the life of my baking sheets and made my baking so much easier and more consistent. I haven't used parchment paper in years! Silpat is the original company, but there are several generic versions from a variety of different companies. I highly recommended grabbing a couple for your holiday baking. Pro tip: use a fancy napkin ring to keep your silpats rolled up tight in your drawer.

3. The last may be the smallest, but definitely my go-to item. After moving to Colorado for a locums job, I had to yet again, start a new kitchen while my kitchen items were at home in California.

I found these adjustable measuring spoons then and absolutely fell in love. The teaspoon version goes all the way down to 1/8tsp and the tablespoon version goes down to 1/2 teaspoon. I love that you just slide the top to the volume you want, then push it forward to release the contents out of the bowl of the spoon.

They are super easy to clean, you just take the top off and place both parts in the dishwasher. I also love that I'm not searching for several different spoons in my drawer; it's all in one! These would make great stocking stuffers, hosting gifts, or a nice treat for yourself for your upcoming holiday cooking. All of my Amazon links are below: 1.
